London Councils In Control conference
We were contacted by the chairs of the London Councils In Control conference. The conference was aimed at commissioners, youth participation lead officers and school and college colleagues. This event provides the opportunity to hear about ways of engaging young people at a strategic level and developing youth leaders and is one of a series of regional activities planned by London Councils and In Control, led by colleagues from Wandsworth and Merton. The participation team were contacted to see if we could arrange a presentation about the Champions. We asked them and Joe, Michael and Rosalind were keen to present! We couldn't film the presentation sadlu but here is what Joe and Michael told us about their experience at the conference.
I am very privileged to have been given the opportunity to present with Rosalind and Michael about our role as SEND Champions. The presentation went extremely well and we all received brilliant feedback. It was exciting to travel into London to present (especially as the venue was located close to the River Thames and the attractions of the South Bank). Most importantly, it was fantastic to be able to inform the audience about the importance of ensuring the SEND reforms are centred around the views of children and young people with additional needs.
It has been a brilliant experience, and I hope I can do something like this in the future.
