February 2019 - Consultation about the Short Breaks Services Statement - seeking your views (closed)
Achieving for Children offer a range of short breaks to children and young people with disabilities across The Royal Borough of Kingston and The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Short breaks provide children and young people with disabilities with the opportunity to take part in social and leisure activities and also provide parents and carers with a break from their caring duties. There is a lot of information available on the short breaks offered by Achieving for Children, we often review the information available to ensure that it is easily accessible and up to date.
Local Authorities have a duty to create and publish a Short Breaks Services Statement. This is a document which provides information on the range of short breaks services offered. The Short Breaks Services Statement informs families of children and young people with disabilities of the choices available to them. The Short Break Services Statement is published on our local offer website.
It is essential to take the views of families of children and young people with disabilities into consideration when reviewing the information we provide. In order to do this, we are inviting parents and carers to share their views on what information should be included in the Short Break Services Statement and how the information should be presented. We are hoping to receive input from a wide range of families so we hope you will be able to join us at one of our four consultation meetings. During our consultation meetings, we will outline the information provided in the current Short Breaks Services Statement and then take questions, comments and recommendations on how we can improve it. We will record all views and then work on making the necessary improvements.
