In Kingston and Richmond we have been lucky enough to be part of the new Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in Schools initiative with South West London Partnership. Alongside our neighbouring boroughs of Merton, Sutton, Wandsworth and Croydon we have joined this collaborative project between education and mental health services.
In Kingston and Richmond the teams are delivered by Achieving for Children as part of our Emotional Health Service.
In our Kingston Cluster, Siobhan Lowe (Head Teacher from Tolworth Girls) has led the cluster, which also includes Hollyfield, Tiffin Girls, Coombe Boys, Dysart Special School, Burlington Infants, Lovelace Primary, Ellingham Primary, King Athelstan Primary, Malden Manor Primary, Christchurch Surbiton Primary and Grand Avenue Primary School.
In Richmond the Cluster Lead is Helen Dixon (Head Teacher from Christ's School) and the other schools in the programme are Greycourt, Hampton High, Richmond Park Academy, Orleans Park Secondary, Strathmore Special School, Meadlands Primary, East Sheen Primary, Sheen Mount Primary, The Russell, Darrell Primary, Lowther Primary, Holy Trinity Primary and Hampton Hill Juniors.
At the moment this programme is only available in a limited number of schools as part of the pilot. We hope that in the future the programme will be expanded to include more schools in the next phase. In the meantime we are utilising and sharing the resources developed by the MHST with as many schools as possible in Kingston and Richmond to ensure a wider benefit.
The following video explains about the programme in more detail.
