Other support for families under 5

There are some local organisations that can support families with children under 5 years.

Home-Start Richmond, Kingston and Houslow is a local community network of trained volunteers who, together with expert staff, support struggling families with children under the age of five through their challenging times.

Families facing mental health difficulties, post-natal depression, isolation, loneliness, the effects of domestic abuse and physical health problems (amongst others) receive emotional and practical support from us.

Homestart are currently offering a range of support options to families including telephone support, ‘walk and talk,’ home-visiting and family play-and-support groups, both in-person and online.

Kingston Welcare is a place for local families to meet, connect and support each other. They care about parents and parenting and WelCare House has a long history of being a friendly and open place where parents and children can build confidence, support each other and get advice. they understand the challenges of parenting and welcome families from all backgrounds to WelCare.

There is a drop-in service for parents who need advice and support or just a place to go to connect with others.

Welcare organise play for families, including during the holidays. They offer support to parents experiencing mental health issues and have a weekly peer support group. They organise workshops and well-being session to help parents manage the stress of daily life.

Welcare services in London boroughs of Richmond and Wandsworth plan to relocate to the Castelnau Community Centre early in 2023 but in the meantime, staff can be contacted on:
