Welcome to the online Destination Year 7 resources. These resources are for families whose children have an Education, Health and Care Plan currently in Year 1 or Year 5, and who are due to transfer to a different junior, primary or secondary school in September 2022.
The Destination Year 7 resources were first produced in spring 2020, to help families decide their preferences when the country was experiencing the first national lockdown due to Covid-19. Due to the ongoing challenges with Covid-19, all state funded schools in Kingston and Richmond have informed us that they are, regrettably, unable to accommodate in person visits from prospective families this year. Schools are updating their Destination 7 videos which you can watch by following the link below. And school SENCOs are very happy to speak with any parent who may be considering their school as a preference. You can find school contact details by following this link here (opens a new window)
Important changes to dates
Please note that we have made some important changes to the phase transfer process and timeline since these films were first made. We now write in June to families whose children will be attending a new school from September 2022. We now ask for two preferences, rather than three. This is because we are almost always able to agree to name either the first or second preference that families let us know about. And we invite families to let us know their preferences by completing an online form by no later than 31 July. The link to the online form is in the letter that we write to families.
We hope that you find this information helpful in deciding your preferences for your child's future education arrangements from September 2022.
