Assessment and Education, Health and Care Planning

Destination Year 7

I would like to introduce myself and welcome you to the online Destination Year 7 event. My name is Anna Chiva, Associate Director for SEND in Achieving for Children, and I am very excited to be introducing this new online event. I know that we are in unprecedented times and for many families lockdown has been incredibly challenging. Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic and subsequent government guidance, we have taken steps to adapt our approach in the hope that we can go some way to provide the information you would have accessed in normal circumstances.

The aim of Destination Year 7 is to provide information about the process associated with moving between school phases (Key Stage 2 to 3) if you or your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan, and also to provide information from our local secondary schools about their settings. I hope this enables you to develop your thinking and understanding about what is available and what would best support your child.

Thank you to those who have contributed to this project.

What you will find here is a series of presentations, starting with an introduction from Senior Managers in the SEND Service who will explain the process of secondary transfer and key timelines. This is followed by individual presentations from each of our local secondary schools which we hope will support you in considering next school placement preferences for your child in the absence of current school tours and visits to your local secondary schools.
