Job Description:-
We are looking to appoint an experience Nursery Manager to support the development of this new, independent, nursery. The Crown Nursery is located in the heart of the St Margaret’s community and promises to provide outstanding care and provision for local children and families.

Core role and responsibilities:
• Responsible for all aspects of the operational running of the nursery in line with policies, Ofsted regulations
and all statutory legislation
• Support staff in assessment and session planning to deliver inspiring, unique experiences for children both
indoors and outdoors, in line with The Crown Nursery’s policy on teaching and learning and the learning and
development requirements of the EYFS Statutory Framework (September 2021)
• Manage communication with parents and/or carers, addressing any concerns, informing them of progress,
and encouraging involvement in their children’s learning
• Responsible for matters relating to special educational needs and child protection in line with the The Crown
Nursery's policies.
Develop professional working relationships with all relevant authorities including the Early Years’ Service
and Local authority.

Monday to Friday, 40/45 hours per week

£28,000 - £32,000


Essential qualifications:
Minimum Level 3 Qualification in Childcare (or equivalent)


Experience, knowledge and skills:
Minimum of 2 years management experience
Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements
Up to date knowledge of Early Years policies, procedures and practise recommendations Knowledge and understanding of equal opportunity and SEND requirements
Possess a Paediatric first aid qualification
Possess a Food Hygiene certificate Level 2.

Job Description: Nursery Practitioner.

Purpose of the job: To work as a key person and as part of the nursery team under the direction of the manager. To provide safe, high quality education and care for young children which meets the individual needs of children attending the setting. Main duties

  1. To assist with the planning of the curriculum using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance.
  2. To help to set up the playroom(s) for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of thesession.
  3. To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely and building an effectiverelationship with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met.
  4. Work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
  5. To advise the Manager of any concerns e.g. over children, parents or the safety of equipment,preserving confidentiality as necessary.
  6. To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulating play experiences.
  7. To ensure that children are kept safe and that you understand when to follow child protectionprocedures.
  8. To actively participate at team meetings, supervisor meetings and appraisal meetings.
  9. To attend training courses as required and to take responsibility for your development.
  10. To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff,which is required as part of the job.
  11. To be aware of and adhere to all the setting’s operational policies and procedures, e.g. health andsafety, fire precautions, dropping off and collection of children, food safety, cleanliness of the setting etc.
  12. To ensure that adequate records are kept and updated regularly.
  13. To promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers.
  14. To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Manager, in accordance with thesetting’s business plan/objectives.
  15. To be consistent and professional in conduct at all times.
  16. On occasion due to staff shortages cover at other Rainbow settings.

Essential criteria

  1. Willingness to learn.
  2. Willingness to achieve level 2 early years education and childcare qualification or equivalent, and acommitment to obtaining a level 3 qualification.
  3. Previous experience of working with young children.
  4. Sound knowledge of child development for children from birth to five years.
  5. Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  6. Knowledge of child protection procedures.
  7. Good communication skills.
  8. An understanding of play based approaches to children’s learning and development.
  9. Commitment to equal opportunities.
  10. Commitment to working effectively with young children and families.
  11. Friendly and flexible approach at work which facilitates the development of effective relationships.
