We are very aware that families are missing the Children’s Centres being open and we are currently working on ensuring that our sites are COVID Secure and ready to offer safe opportunities for families to visit.
Children's Centre services are part of Achieving for Children which has a Recovery Plan in process, with sites dedicated to Child Protection, Special Educational Needs and Youth Justice being given priority.
The Children's Centres should achieve their COVID Secure status by the end of August. We will then be in a position to prioritise the services that can return to the centres. The initial priority will be given to health services, and families currently supported by Children’s Social Care and Family Support, which should return at the beginning of September. Which services and sessions that can return after that will depend on the local position regarding the virus.
Children's Centres are in a very different position to schools and nurseries who know who will be attending on any given day, and have also had to stop parents from going into their sites.
All Children's Centre services will need to be pre-booked when we return so that we can limit the number of people within the building at any time, and assist with NHS Test and Trace if necessary.
Whilst we appreciate that this is disappointing, our main consideration is to ensure that we can offer a safe and secure space for families and staff to return to. In the meantime we will continue with our online programme via Facebook and hope that you have enjoyed some of the activities that we have been sharing.
Our Children's Centres are closed until further notice but we will be providing some online activities.
Children's Centres will be operating a virtual timetable and would like to encourage families to access this as a source of support whilst their doors are closed.
