SENCo Network

  These termly network meetings will provide ongoing support and training for SENCOs in Day Nurseries and Pre-schools. Sharing good practice, working together, responding to changing needs and improving practice will be key themes for this interactive and informative sessions. The facilitators will ensure that the content of the meetings are reflective of local and national emerging themes, which means these meetings really are unmissable.


The target audience is SENCOs in Ofsted registered Early Years settings; and childminders. Content of the sessions is occasionally borough specific (regarding processes and funding arrangements) so please ensure that you are booking onto the correct network meeting. The role of a SENCO will vary depending on the setting, however each SENCO has a vital role in supporting a child overcome any barriers to learning. Their role is to lead the co-ordination of provision for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (DfE, 2016). These borough specific network meetings will cover a range of topics relating to current issues around Special Educational Needs and Disability and support the SENCO in meeting their statutory requirements.

Although the agenda will have standing items, specific content will of course vary dependent on national and local initiatives and developments. Contents will include a programme of multi-professional input as appropriate. There will be practical activities providing delegates opportunities to develop their skills. The network will offer surgery support where delegates can discuss their individual concerns with members of the Early Years Advisory Service.
