Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement 2021-2022
This statement is made according to s.54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Achieving for Children has taken and is continuing to take to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain.
Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour. We have a zero tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within the business or our supply chain.
Achieving for Children is a community interest company jointly owned by the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. We provide a range of services to, and directly work with, children, young people, parents, carers and schools.
We have a number of policies to ensure that we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner. These include:
- Safer recruitment policy: we operate a robust recruitment policy, including conducting eligibility to work in the UK checks when recruiting new staff, in order to help safeguard against human trafficking or individuals being forced to work against their will.
- Whistleblowing policy: we aim to ensure that all employees know that they can raise concerns about how colleagues are being treated, or practices within our business or supply chain, without fear of reprisals.
- Commissioning framework: we carry out appropriate due diligence as part of all procurement and commissioning activity. This due diligence provides assurance that any suppliers carrying out work for AfC have robust policies in place to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking in place within their business or supply chain.
This statement will be refreshed on an annual basis and approved by our Board of Directors.
