Description of activity
Orchard Hill College is a community based specialist College offering educational opportunities for students over 16 years old with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities. Orchard Hill College offers MDT support onsite from our own team of therapists and nurses who work alongside the curriculum teams to support individual development.
Orchard Hill College gained Ofsted ‘outstanding’ in December 2013. We are very proud of this achievement as it reflects recognition of our students’ fantastic work.
‘Outcomes for learners are outstanding. Learners successfully work towards goals for independence, supported living, making use of their local community facilities and services, work and further learning.’ We have recently developed provision for students on traineeships and into work programmes that support young people into the world of independent work.
Young people develop and mature during their time at Orchard Hill and the dedicated team of support around them offer opportunities that will improve their independence and confidence. Each students’ programme is as individual as they are.
The range of students who access Orchard Hill College courses include those with:
• Severe, profound and complex needs
• Moderate learning difficulties and ESOL
• Communication difficulties, including behavioural difficulties
