Description of activity

Tryb4uFly is a service that provides the unique opportunity to try specially designed aeroplane support seating for children, young people and adults with disabilities. Working with interested parties including children, young people, adults, parents, cabin crew, airlines, travel agents and supported by the Department of Health, we can now offer the MERU TravelChair, a postural seat insert, the Burnett microbead system, the Crelling support harness and the Cares harness. They are available to trial in a life-size aeroplane cabin at our Mobility Centre, in Carshalton in Surrey and from March in Leeds at the William Merritt Disabled Living Centre.

We are offering an opportunity for children and adults to sample and for parents/carers to seek professional advice on the best support seating and transfer aids available. This is in a real fuselage and aircraft seat.

Trying out the various products will reduce anxiety and stress before flying and help you to make an informed decision. Airlines will benefit from the reduction in time spent explaining seat options to potential passengers, and minimising complications when passengers board the plane.

Call the centre for an assessment to experience how difficulties can be managed within the aircraft.
