Description of activity
Who is a Social Communication Assessment for?
The Social Communication Assessment Team see children aged 0-4 years who have social communication difficulties and who may also have unusual patterns of behaviour. In addition we see older children with social communication difficulties who have additional needs such as a learning difficulty. Older children and young people aged up to 18 are seen by the CAMHS Team.
Aims of the Social Communication Assessment Team:
•To provide a comprehensive assessment of a child or young person which may lead to a diagnosis of a neurodevelopmental disorder such as autism.
•To provide a written report detailing evidence supporting the diagnosis
•To provide written recommendations and signposts to other services for parents and professionals working with the child or young person.
