Cost: £180 includes a Safeguarding workbook

The Makaton Safeguarding workshop is geared to support professionals and carers of children and adults with severe communication and learning disabilities. The workshop builds on existing knowledge of signs and symbols and provides instruction for extra signs and symbols specific to this area of need and access to further resources.

Entry Criteria: Prior to attending the Safeguarding Workshop you must have attended both Day 1 and Day 2 of the Beginners' Workshop or all four modules of the Foundation Workshop.

You will receive a Safeguarding workshop workbook which includes the signs and symbols that you have learned. You will also be given a certificate of attendance.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day.

This course is delivered by a regional tutor who has been creating Safeguarding activities and establishing learning groups within a special needs setting. He has been teaching Safeguarding concepts to different groups as well as Project Britain with focus on students' rights and democracy. The tutor is a founding member of Sex and Education working party leading and contributing in the areas of communication and relationships. He has established and run school council. The tutor has been translating OFSTED information and inspection letters into signs and symbols. He has been creating and conducting Mental Capacity Act assessments, debrief questionnaires, post-restraint questionnaires, and children's views questionnaires.
