On the Ball Active Learning- Session 10
‘On the Ball’ is a fun, 12 week, highly tailored programme to help parents of children with social communication needs aged 5-11. The children’s needs typically impact social opportunities and learning. ‘On the Ball’ includes two evening sessions for parents and 10 weeks of active learning for families, especially dads, with their child. The active learning sessions are run by Brentford FC Community Sports Trust with Action-attainment and are held on Saturday mornings at Palewell Park, East Sheen. Backing from Three Guineas Trust makes the programme free to participants.
‘On the Ball’ explains how children’s communication and sensory needs affect them socially and educationally. It provides strategies for inclusion first in parent workshops, then through using the strategies while playing games, developing ball skills and having fun together as a family.
‘On the Ball’ can help parents with improving child behaviour through:
- communication strategies
- sensory strategies
- shared strategies for home and school
